Integrating the Autonomic Nervous System into a therapeutic process is imperative to healing. This is why the Safe and Sound Protocol, a sort of recalibration of the Vagus Nerve, is so special. The Safe and Sound Protocol offers participants the opportunity to exercise their system in a safe, co-regulated environment. What’s more, the process can be tailored for all ages and stages of healing.

In 2020, Amanda received the honorable designation of Key Provider of the Safe and Sound Protocol by the Unyte organization thanks to her innovative outreach and utilization of the Safe and Sound Protocol within her community. She is an active part of the iLS pilot program, striving to serve the underserved across the globe.

The Safe and Sound Protocol, at its core, is 5 hours of listening to music that has been filtered and modulated to steer the listener’s nervous system up and down the Polyvagal Ladder, engaging a “Safe and Social”, “Fight or Flight”, and “Freeze or Faint” state all while maintaining engagement of the Social Engagement System with the clinician’s support. This process (moving through listening at whatever pace is most comfortable for the client) offer the listener’s nervous system the chance to increase its “tone” (the ability to confidently navigate stressful situations) and “brake” (the body’s ability to stop the plummet into fight/flight and freeze/faint).

Amanda is able to offer the Safe and Sound Protocol as part of the therapeutic process for active clients. She also provides the Safe and Sound Protocol as a stand-alone service for those who would benefit from it on its own or have their therapeutic needs met elsewhere. In addition, she trains parents and caregivers to provide the protocol to their children so that the family may experience the peace and joy that comes from a home full of well-regulated nervous systems!
